Overview
BirdID Lite is a simple quiz app for the purpose of bird conservation. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Basic usage metrics (optional): Anonymous counters such as number of quiz plays and correct answers, stored locally in your browser (localStorage) for your personal stats. This information never leaves your device.
- Donations (future feature): Once verified bird conservation nonprofits begin accepting Pi, the Pi SDK will process any contributions you choose to make. If donations become available, we may record a public, non‑identifying entry (amount, date, optional memo) in our Public Donations Ledger.
- No account required: You can take the quiz without creating an account or providing personal information.
What we do NOT collect
- No personal data: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.
- No tracking or analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, fingerprinting scripts, or cross‑site tracking technologies.
- No location data: We do not request or store your geographic location.
- No browsing history: We do not track what pages you visit outside of BirdID Lite.
- No cookies for advertising: We do not use cookies for marketing, profiling, or behavioral advertising.
Cookies & local storage
We may use localStorage for your quiz stats. You can clear it anytime via your browser settings.
Third-party services
- Pi Browser / Pi SDK: Used only to initiate voluntary Pi contributions once donations become available. Outside the Pi Browser, the donation button is disabled or provides guidance.
- Hosting/CDN: Static files are served through Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect standard logs for security and performance (e.g., IP address, user agent, request details). These logs are managed according to Cloudflare’s own privacy policies.
Data retention
If Pi donations become supported in the future, public, non‑identifying donation entries (amount, date, optional memo) will appear in the Public Donations Ledger. No personal identifiers are ever published.
Your choices
- You can use the quiz without donating.
- You can clear local stats via your browser.
