BirdID Lite is more than a bird identification quiz. It is a small step toward connecting the global birding community with the Pi Network. Birding is a major worldwide activity supported by birders, photographers, educators, tour guides, conservation groups, parks, sanctuaries, equipment makers, and nonprofit organizations. If even a small part of that community begins accepting and using Pi, bird conservation could gain a new way to receive support from people around the world.
Drawing on trusted resources like eBird and Audubon, BirdID Lite invites you to explore the amazing diversity of birds around us. Questions highlight identification tips, behavior, habitat, migration, and conservation stories from across the globe.
We publish fresh quiz content every two weeks: regions to explore, spotlights on rare species, and features that highlight endangered birds and the threats they face. As you test your skills and learn new facts, you’ll also see practical ways to help—log your sightings on eBird, connect with local Audubon chapters, support conservation partners, and encourage birding organizations to explore Pi as a future payment and donation option.
The quiz is free to use during launch. Optional Pi donations are planned for a future version after payment testing is complete and after appropriate bird conservation nonprofits are able to accept Pi.
My commitment is that once verified nonprofit bird conservation organizations begin accepting Pi, future Pi contributions made through this app will be directed to KYB-approved conservation groups. Any remaining portion will support ongoing development and maintenance of the project. This app is about action, not just answers. Together we can understand, appreciate, and protect our feathered friends—one question at a time. With millions of potential birders among Pi Network Pioneers, BirdID Lite has a unique opportunity to introduce Pi to the birding world and bring bird conservation into the Pi ecosystem.
Test your bird identification skills with a free educational quiz. Learn about bird species, habitats, conservation status, and trusted resources for further reading.

This week's quiz: Endangered Birds of India.
Bird populations are under pressure—habitat loss, collisions, invasive species, and climate change all play a role. Studies estimate North America alone has lost roughly 3 billion birds since 1970. BirdID-Lite’s mission is to help people learn and care—and to support the groups doing the hard work on the ground.
My Pledge: BirdID‑Lite will support bird conservation efforts once verified nonprofits begin accepting Pi. When that becomes possible, a portion of all Pi contributions will be directed toward organizations that have completed KYB (Know Your Business) on the Pi platform.
